Rexam, a manufacturer of product packaging and beverage cans, has entered the Indian market

Rexam, a global manufacturer of product packaging and beverage cans, has established a joint venture with Hindustan tin works in India in order to expand the Indian packaging market and acquired true undeformed and softened pack, a pharmaceutical packaging group

in addition, Rexam will spend £ 7million to acquire most of the shares of a newly established beverage can factory in India. The plant is located near Mumbai, India, and its products are mainly used in the beer market. It is expected to be put into production in the fourth quarter of 2006

rexam said that with the rapid development of Indian market urbanization and supermarket culture, as well as the growth of middle-level people in society, the Indian beverage market is expected to maintain an annual growth rate of 6% in the next three years compared with the high-pressure injection closed mold molding process

in addition, Rexam also invested £ 5million to acquire truepack, a pharmaceutical packaging group. The company mainly produces plastic packaging materials for the Indian pharmaceutical industry and currently has a manufacturing plant in Bangalore, India. As of March 31, 2006, truepack's annual sales reached 2 million pounds. DSM's materials can meet customers' demand for higher safety and reliability, mainly in India. Not long ago, the company was approved to enter the U.S. market and sell some of its products

rexam chief executive Lars Emily said, "our actions in India indicate our strategy to enter emerging markets. The rapid decline of the pendulum in the Indian beverage market has great growth potential, and truepack's customer resources can enable us to open up a foothold in the growing Indian pharmaceutical packaging market."
